Premier A Killarney Athletic A 5 Spa Road 1
A vital win for Athletic over fellow strugglers Spa Road. Mike Milner and Pedro Martins and a Lucas Polak hat trick ensuring the win for Athletic.
Killarney Athletic B 4 Castleisland 2
A relegation battle in division 1. Played in very heavy conditions forcing it impossible for Athletic to play their usual game of possession football and instead play long ball football. Castleisland also had the opportunity of A team players, they raced into an early lead through their ever instrumental player Pa O’Rourke and Athletic found themselves 2-0 down at half time. Castleisland got a further 2 goals but Athletic’s spirit never gave up and goals from Rafa Barthy and Joe Hurley from 40 yards ensured a close finish. Training continues Friday nights in Fossa.d play long ball football. Denny Youth’s League Result
Killarney Athletic A.F.C. 3 Listowel Celtic 0
This was a top of the table clash with Listowel placed 3rd in the table. This was our first game since January and it’s been hard for the lads to keep focused the last 8 weeks with no games. This been the case, the lads played with an assurance and confidence that you wouldn’t know that they haven’t played in such a long period. We knew this was going to be a tough encounter with Listowel, looking to finish second and make the league final. In tough conditions we played our possession based game to near perfection but Listowel battled hard and gave us nothing easy. 1-0 up going in at the break with an Adam O’Shea free kick, patience was the key to unlocking the resolute Listowel defence. With this virtue applied two more goals were added in the second half to secure the 3 points. Played 13 won 13. Goalscorers were Adam O’Shea, Chris O’Meara and Paudie Clifford. Man of the Match Adam O’ Shea.
Under 15 Killarney Athletic 4 Castlemaine United 2
In very arctic conditions played in heavy conditions in Castlemaine, Athletic were professional in everything from the start to ensure a great win for the boys in royal blue. Despite missing a few players to illness, Athletic controlled the game and played the ball on the ground at all times. We had the minimum of leads at half time coming from the instrumental Blake Bolster who is a joy to watch with his skills. Into the second half and a quick brace from Ryan Casey and a Liam Curran goal ensured that Athletic raced into a 4-0 lead and credit must be given to Castlemaine for getting 2 late goals and never gave up once throughout the game. It’s now the business end of the season and games will come thick and fast.
