Results
Senior A
Castleisland 2 Killarney Athletic 2
After a couple of unfortunate results our A’s got a good result away to the current champions when we came from 2 – 0 down to get late goals from Martin Crowley (84) and Brian O’Donoghue (88) to grab a draw that our performance deserved. Even in injury time we could have got a winner when Lindsay O’Carroll, and Shane Doolan all had great chances. Best for Athletic were Martin Crowley, Cillian Fitzgerald and Ryan O’Carroll.
Youths
Killarney Athletic 2 Castlemaine United 1
Athletic have changed formations at under 18 and senior B level and it seems to have finally paid dividends with some great attacking football being played. Unfortunately Athletic went down 1 – 0 today due to a defensive error with former Athletic player Padraig O’Brien scoring but the boys in blue battled away and substitute Eoin Foran scored from an Alan Daly corner in the 75th minute to level scores. When Luke Doran received his marching orders in the 89th minute for a late challenge on midfield general Julian Iff, Athletic attacked the Tommy Counihan cross and Alan Daly got on the end of it to guide the ball to the net in the final minute. Castlemaine had 2 final chances but Donal O’Neill was solid in goal, great team performance with Eoin O’Meara, Finbarr Murphy and Alan Daly star performers.
Under 14
Killarney Athletic under 14 lost 5 – 0 away to Killarney Celtic on Saturday last. After starting first 10 minutes brightly lads were soft without the ball. Going in 5 down at half time! This has been a problem with lads but also never giving up has been a theme. Came out a different team in 2nd half and competed well with some decent passages of play and finished match with half time score! Caomhin Boyne and Eamon Long brought some steel when introduced and with Tadhg Doolan, Ronan Buchanan and Danny Cronin involved in some good play. But all can be very proud of reaction in 2nd half when things weren’t going our way.
Under 12
Killarney Athletic 1 Ballyhar 2
Athletic were very unlucky not to get at least a draw from this game when they put in a great effort. Athletic went a goal up when Rossa Bellew scored after latching onto a through ball. Ballyhar levelled before the break to leave it 1 all. Ballyhar took the lead midway through the second half after a harsh refereeing decision and try as they did Athletic just could not get an equaliser.

Diarmuid O’Carroll with 2 goals in a 6 – 0 win for Crusaders in the Northern Ireland Irish cup. A cup Diarmuid has previously won with Cliftonville Football Club, Belfast. Well done Diarmuid.
