Killarney Athletic 2 Castlemaine 3
A game certainly lost for Athletic. Despite Castlemaine controlling the first half, we took the lead through Tommy Counihan strike from edge of the box to lead 1-0 at half time. Athletic were re enforced at half time but despite warnings from management, the boys didn’t heed warning and found themselves down 3-1 within 15 minutes. It was all out attack by Athletic and Dion Marcos got one back and despite attacking waves by Athletic, Castlemaine held out for the win.

Park 3 Killarney Athletic 0
A close fought encounter but 2 speculative efforts from outside the box from Park effectively ended the contest. We worked hard and were solid in defence but ultimately could not create enough chances to put Park under enough pressure to make the game closer.
Girls under 14 league at Ferndale
Killarney Athletic 4 Mastergeeha 1
A comprehensive and well deserved victory for the Killarney Athletic girls. Rachel Campbell & Ciara Moynihan were prominent in a solid defensive formation which was well marshalled by Fiona Galvin. Mairead Lehane and Ciara O’Mahony dominated the midfield encounters led by Ciara Tangney who was the outstanding player on view, chipping in with a magnificent solo goal to complement a passing and tackling master class. Upfront Ellen Coffey’ s blistering pace tormented the opposition defence and she was well supported by the Faulds sisters Ciara and Katie. Ellen Coffey, Ciara O’Mahony, Ciara Tangney & Katie Faulds were on the score sheet for Athletic with Anna Hannigan replying for a valiant and ever improving youthful Mastergeeha side.
Under 12
Killarney Athletic under 12’s were playing their first game in a month and it showed in their play, and it took Athletic some time to get into the game. Athletic were beaten on the day but showed some great character and attitude and kept trying to the end and should have been rewarded with a few goals in the later stages of the game. Inter Kenmare were too strong on the day but they are the league leaders. Things can only get better for this young Athletic team.
