latest notes 23-10-15
After a quiet start to the season the team seems to be really gelling now as they were in full control of this match from start to finish. A strong performance in midfield with Darren Mulcahy pulling the strings gave us a good platform with Sean Boyne and Luke O’Donoghue looking lively up front. The defence was solid with the lads playing the ball on the ground nicely with James Kelly making some great runs down the right hand side. In fairness to Park it was their first fixture of the season and the games we already had under our belt gave us the advantage.
Killarney athletic 0-3 Corbally
Corbally opened the scoring within the first two minutes and controlled the game for the next quarter of an hour. Athletic came to grips with the game and finished the game on top and but for the final pass could easily have equalised before half time. Corbally went two up in the first minute of the second half and athletic were chasing the game until full time. The third goal for Corbally came in the last minute with the last kick of the game. Best for athletic, Jonathan Green, Fionnbar Hickey, Ruairi O Keeffe and keeper Kieran Thompson.
U14:
Killarney Athletic 2-0 Limerick FC
Our U14 team roll on to the next round of the National Cup after
defeating Limerick City FC 2-0.The game itself was interupted several
times with a side show put on by the Limerick manager and his behaviour
was most unsavoury but to the credit of our young stars they never go
involved in any of it and kept their heads and concentration and moved
on to win the game in dramatic fashion, with goals from Damien Switzer and Eoin Moynihan.
U12:
Killarney Athletic 2-0 Granagh
Killarney Athletic under 12's had two games on a busy Sat.. In Woodlawn at one in the National cup we took on Granagh from Limerick. Conal Gallagher scored through a well worked goal. .. With ten minutes left Conal scored again when set up by Alex Hennigan. A great effort on the day against a very well organised and sporting Granagh team. Shay o Meara, Conal Gallagher ,Teddy Muldoon and Sean Dineen played well. Man of the match Cian Lynch had his best outing for Athletic. Our other team were not quite as good losing six nil to Iveragh away. Missing a few on the day made this very though but our new boys Juan and Ramon doing well.Sam Bolger was the best on the day.
