Our lads made the long trip to Dingle on Sunday in what was a top of the table clash.
In what turned out to be our toughest game this season we were fortunate to come away with the three points, only for an inspired performance from our goalkeeper Johnny O' Leary we could have suffered a heavy defeat. By no means did we play anywhere near our best football today but the squad is showing great resolve in grinding out results. The lads deserve great credit for battling right to the final whistle and we have now played 9 and won 9 in the League. Goalscorers were Mark O'Shea and Paudie Clifford.
Under 15
Both under 15 teams played on Saturday last with the A team travelling to Asdee and coming away 3-1 winners with goals from Blake Bolster and 2 from Adam Dennehy. The B team were at home to Park B team and this was a great entertaining match. Park took the lead despite Athletic on top. A half time inspirational speech with mention of a world class grandmother at soccer woke the boys up and Sean O’Sullivan was instrumental setting up all 3 goals with Sean Boyne, Ian O’Shea and man of the match Ethan Fleming scoring. Park got a late consolidation goal to leave the score 3-2. Big thank you to Connie O’Shea, Gavin, Timmy and Pedro for helping out with the team. On behalf of the team, we wish Gavin a belated 40th birthday and get well soon with his back injury.
Under 13
Killarney Athletic 4 Killarney Celtic B 1
Although Athletic went into the break with 2 goals from Harry Potts Celtic battled back and got 1 just after half time. Game was open until sub Eoin Talbot scored Athletic’s 3rd goal and added with a 4th. Celtic were right in it until the 3rd Athletic goal. Apart from scorers Tadgh Doolan deserves a mention for getting on top in middle when it mattered.
Annual Street Collection: Will be held on Saturday 25th January. If you could help out with an hour or two please contact any club officer.
Old clothes collection: There will be a clothes collection on Saturday 25th in Killarney Athletic, Woodlawn. All items can be dropped between 10.00am and 1.00pm. All your old clothing greatly accepted.
