U15 Match Report ; Fenit 1-0 Killarney Athletic
Starting with a much changed side with 8 players unavailable, Athletic started well with Conor Horgan unlucky to hit the crossbar from a corner in the 2nd minute. At the back the team took time to gel, with O’Brien & Tynan playing their second game together & improving throughout, ably assisted by the debuting Sam Benson who was excellent & Quill very aggressive in the tackle didn’t give Fenit anything easy. The only goal came midway through the first half when a free kick from the edge of the box was taken quickly to which the team was asleep to & gave the opposition an easy start. In midfield McCann, Lee & the returning Alade were excellent in possession, with Alade & Lee excellent at covering at the back also while MOTM Eoghan Mulvaney was terrorising Fenit down the wing. Moynihan initially & Horgan in the second half were full of industry with Horgan going close with a curling effort midway through the second half. Osieba got on a lot of ball & his intelligent distribution created lots of chances while Rifat was getting a lot of joy down the right wing.
Also in the second half a Trojan performance by Mulvaney at both centre half & right back with many telling interceptions & two excellent saves from Doolan, limited Fenit to just the one. Athletic were unlucky not to take anything from the game but can build on this performance going forward.
